Principal John Murray and Athletic Director Jeff Parcells are pleased to announce that Medway High School senior Connor Gilmore has been selected to serve on the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) 2021-22 Student Advisory Committee (SAC).
Gilmore is one of 26 students throughout the state selected to sit on the SAC. He will represent District 7 along with students from Natick, Bellingham, Milford and Hopkinton High Schools.
“Connor served as a MIAA Student Ambassador for Medway High School last year and we are very excited that he was chosen to sit on this prestigious committee,” Parcells said. “He now has the opportunity to represent not only all of our Medway student-athletes, but student-athletes from across the Commonwealth at the highest levels of the MIAA. I believe Connor’s numerous leadership qualities will be an asset to this committee and will help bring positive change for all student-athletes served by the MIAA.”
Gilmore is a three-sport student-athlete, participating in soccer, indoor track and outdoor track and field. He is a team captain of the indoor and outdoor track teams.
This SAC is comprised of students who participated in the New England Student Leadership Conference (NESLC) and/or the MIAA Student Ambassador program. Gilmore was nominated to serve on the committee and then had to apply and interview for the position.
SAC members attend seasonal meetings with the Educational Athletics Committee and help facilitate student and captain leadership workshops throughout the school year.
In addition, the students are asked to participate in various activities and provide feedback from a student’s perspective on how to improve MIAA Educational Athletic offerings.
On Tuesday, Aug. 17 the 2021-22 SAC members attended orientation at the MIAA Office in Franklin where they met each other, participated in team-building exercises and began to set goals for the year
