Superintendent Armand Pires and Principal John Murray are pleased to announce that Medway High School senior Rebecca Chleboski has been presented with the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents (M.A.S.S.) Award of Academic Excellence.

Chleboski was nominated by the faculty and staff at Medway High School and was presented with the award on Thursday, Nov. 4. 

The M.A.S.S. Award of Academic Excellence is presented by the superintendent to a deserving student in each school district throughout Massachusetts. To be considered for the award, the student must be a member of the senior class with a cumulative GPA that places them in the top fifth percentile of their class. The nominee must also consistently demonstrate traits of leadership, social responsibility, respect for their fellow students and involvement in various aspects of the school community.

Chleboski is the recipient of numerous scholastic awards, holds multiple leadership positions within school organizations and is a service-minded individual, assisting and volunteering in the community on a variety of projects. 

She is a three-year member and current president of the Science Olympiad, a four-year member and current treasurer of Women In STEM, and a four-year member and current vice president of the Math Team. She serves as a peer counselor, is a four-year member of TADA (Tolerance, Acceptance, Diversity Alliance) and has participated in both the fall play and spring musical. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society. 

Chleboski is a recipient of the University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award, as well as Excellence Awards in chemistry, chorus and Mandarin. She also received the Congress of Future Medical Leaders Award of Excellence and was a finalist in the National Security Language Initiative for Youth program. She plans to study medicine or engineering after graduating high school.

Chleboski is described by her Medway High School teachers as an energetic, highly-motivated and enthusiastic member of her classes and clubs who asks great questions and values other students’ opinions. She is described as passionate about the causes she supports and the interests she explores, and has a steadfast determination to persevere, regardless of any and all obstacles.

“Rebecca is passionate, skilled, and shows an immense amount of dedication to everything she is involved in. Her teachers speak very highly of her, and she is an outstanding member and leader of our high school community,” Superintendent Pires said. “Rebecca not only meets, but exceeds the criteria for the Superintendent’s Award for Academic Excellence, and I am pleased to recognize her as the recipient.”
