Eagle Project included collecting golf equipment for GolfForAll

In November, Colin T. Roberts of Medway attained the rank of Eagle Scout, which was celebrated with friends and family plus state and local officials at a ceremony at The Thayer Homestead.
As part of the Eagle Scout process, scouts must complete an Eagle Scout Service Project.
Roberts’ project included collecting donations of golf equipment, which was then donated to Golf for All in Wellesley, a group that is “dedicated to transforming the lives of all people facing emotional, physical and developmental challenges or who are experiencing traumatic/stressful hardships…” (golfforall.org).
Roberts said, “I chose this project because I wanted to provide opportunities to others to play the game that has given me so many opportunities to grow as a person over the years. I knew I could make a positive impact in people’s lives if I made golf accessible to them.”
Through many hours of hard work and perseverance, Roberts was able to collect and donate clubs, bags and gloves to the organization to benefit various programs for veterans, special needs camps and clinics, plus people enduring post-traumatic stress disorder, amputation and traumatic paralysis, Alzheimer’s, and more.
The organization has many beneficiaries including the Carroll Center for the Blind, Helping Hands of Massachusetts, Jimmy Fund, Perkins School, and Special Olympics.
In his speech at his Eagle Scout Ceremony, Roberts said scouting had been an irreplaceable part of his childhood and it helped him learn skills of leadership, communication, and responsibility.
“This is a culmination of countless hours of hard work that I have dedicated over the past six years. The position is something I always viewed as honorable and impressive so it feels incredible to now be an Eagle myself. The entire scouting journey has been a rewarding process and I am very thankful I got involved in scouting.”
Roberts is a student at Medway High Student where he is a member of National Honor Society and a four-year varsity member (and two-year captain) of the golf team. He works for US Kids Golf.
