Medway Public Schools Superintendent Armand Pires and McGovern Elementary School Principal Amy McDonald are pleased to share that a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate newly added playground equipment in January.
The event took place on Jan. 3, at the McGovern Elementary School playground with several members of the Medway School community as well as students and administrators from the Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical school.
The ceremony began with opening remarks from Principal McDonald. School and town officials attended the event including Superintendent Pires, Assistant Superintendent Gabrielle Abrams, Student Services Director Ryan Place, Facilities Director Michael Grennon, Medway Foundation for Education member Michael Hanson, Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School Superintendent Karen Maguire, and Principal Dana Walsh.
McGovern Elementary School’s former first grade teacher Tara Barrows wrote and submitted a grant to the Medway Foundation for Education in 2022, with hopes to enhance the playground area and create an outdoor nature play and exploration zone for students. The Medway Foundation for Education awarded the $5,000 grant, allowing for new pieces of dramatic play equipment to be added to the playground.
